A Rolex for those who are "in the know"...
The Rolex Day-Date has been a symbol of prestige since its introduction in 1956, earning the iconic nickname “President”. This Ref. 1803 features the rare “Wide Boy” dial configuration, highly prized by vintage Rolex collectors for its distinctive design. Combined with its champagne pie-pan dial and unpolished case retaining its original factory finish, this is a particularly collectible example of Rolex’s legendary dress watch.
Crafted from solid 18ct yellow gold, this Day-Date features a classic 36mm case, fluted bezel and plexiglass crystal. Its champagne pie-pan dial is distinguished by unusually broad, block-like hour markers and extra-wide “cigarette” hands, originally featuring tritium luminous detailing. The unpolished case is especially desirable among collectors, while a genuine leather strap (not original Rolex) completes its elegant vintage aesthetic.
Powering the watch is the Rolex calibre 1556 automatic movement, offering an approximately 42-hour power reserve. Offered as watch only, circa 1972. Offered as watch only and on a leather band, this example represents excellent value for such a rare and collectible vintage Rolex. As with all vintage timepieces, we do not recommend wearing this watch in or around water, regardless of its original water resistance rating. For complete peace of mind, this timepiece is accompanied by our 24 month J. Farren Price warranty.
