The Rolex Lady-Datejust has long been celebrated as an expression of timeless elegance, combining the precision and reliability of Rolex watchmaking with the refinement of fine jewellery. Introduced in 1957, the collection has become one of the brand’s most enduring ladies’ designs. The Ref. 69178J represents a particularly luxurious interpretation, crafted entirely in 18ct yellow gold and featuring a beautiful champagne diamond-set dial. Examples from this era with their accompanying box and papers are becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly in such well-preserved condition, making this a highly appealing piece for collectors and enthusiasts of vintage Rolex.
This Rolex Lady-Datejust Ref. 69178J features a classic 26mm case crafted from solid 18ct yellow gold, complemented by Rolex’s signature fluted gold bezel. Its rich champagne dial is adorned with applied diamond hour markers, creating an elegant tonal combination that beautifully complements the warmth of the yellow gold case. A sapphire crystal with Cyclops date magnifier and an exquisite 18ct yellow gold President-style bracelet complete its luxurious appearance. The combination of precious metal, diamond detailing and traditional Rolex proportions gives this timepiece a refined presence that remains as elegant today as it was when first produced.
Powering the watch is the Rolex calibre 2135 automatic movement, offering an approximately 42-hour power reserve. Presented in excellent condition for its age and offered with box and papers, circa 1996. Finding a nearly 30-year-old solid gold Lady-Datejust in this desirable configuration, particularly with its accompanying documentation, is becoming increasingly uncommon. Its exceptional presentation, classic champagne diamond dial and elegant gold bracelet make this a wonderful opportunity to acquire a beautifully preserved example of Rolex’s jewellery-inspired watchmaking heritage. As with all vintage timepieces, we do not recommend wearing this watch in or around water, regardless of its original water resistance rating. For complete peace of mind, this timepiece is accompanied by our 24 month J. Farren Price warranty.

Condition is assessed in the context of the watch's age. Natural patina and period-appropriate ageing may be present and do not necessarily detract from its grade.
