Founded by celebrated independent watchmaker Hajime Asaoka, Kurono Tokyo was established to bring the artistry and design philosophy of Japanese haute horlogerie to a wider audience. Produced in highly limited numbers and released in small batches, Kurono timepieces have become some of the most sought-after modern independent watches, often selling out within minutes of launch.
The 2025 Jubilee Sensu EOL is one of the brand's most historically significant releases, created to celebrate the final production of a unique Japanese automatic movement that can no longer be replicated with contemporary alternatives. The watch's exquisite dial, personally designed by Hajime Asaoka, is finished in a stunning pale Shiraai ("white indigo") ice blue and decorated with a stamped chrysanthemum wave guilloché pattern inspired by traditional Japanese artistry. Black Kanji hour markers provide a striking contrast, while the distinctive "Sensu" power reserve indicator at 9 o'clock takes inspiration from the elegant form of a traditional Japanese folding fan.
Housed within a beautifully proportioned 38mm stainless steel case and protected by a sapphire crystal, the Jubilee Sensu EOL is paired with a black leather strap and offers 50 metres of water resistance, balancing dress watch elegance with everyday practicality.
Powering the watch is the modified Miyota 9133PWT automatic movement, based on the now-discontinued Miyota 9133 End-Of-Life (EOL) calibre. Importantly, no current Japanese movement supports this distinctive power reserve architecture, ensuring that the Sensu display layout cannot be recreated in future Kurono releases. This technical significance, combined with the model's limited production and extraordinary dial craftsmanship, has established the Jubilee Sensu EOL as one of the most collectible and desirable modern Kurono references. Offered as a full set with box and card. Circa 2025. Covered by our 24 month J. Farren Price warranty.
